MondoCon is an anime convention held every season in the city Budapest, Hungary. I have been attending since 2019 spring every year at least once. Here I'd like to list each of my personal experiences I had relating to the convention, and memories I have from there.

2021 Spring (saturday)
The first time I went to the convention. I was invited by a classmate of mine, Red and her group of people. They still don't know to this day that i did not memorize any of their names (as much as to connect the names to their faces.) I had a fun time. I met my other classmate, Cherry there too. She carried a big rabbit plush and we weren't on bad terms at the time, so i asked where she got it and she showed me the stand. I bought my own big plush rabbit, Molly there. An Elias Ainsworth (The Ancient Magus's Bride) cosplayer came up to me as i held the plush in my hands and patted it. I was lost and about to cry, but that helped i guess. After that i found my group and met Attis, a hungarian youtube content creator who also pet my plush. It was a good day, i enjoyed it.

I've probably been to more conventions in this time gap, i just don't have the ticket anymore and don't remember. I also remember sushi.

2021 summer
I think this was the one where i went with BlackCat (maybe second time ever meeting him) and StoneWorker. I remember waiting AGES for BlackCat to come back to us after he decided to wait 2 hours for 2 pieces of overpriced Takoyaki. During the con i saw people walk around with Gloomy Bear plushes, so i took the courage to ask someone where they got the plushie. Turns out a stand was selling them for only $15USD(5000huf) !!! That is incredibly cheap for one and i had to get one. That's how i got my yellow All Purpose Bunny, Banana Debussy. We had a lot of fun despite me being in my cringiest years.

2022 spring (saturday)
In the break that 2020 and the following years provided i finished my first ever fursuit! I wanted to take it out to the con so i did. I went with BlackCat and Duck and their group. I recieved 1 picture from a man who was very sweet about it and found another picture in the facebook group. I also had one girl come up to me and very aggressively pat (or shake) my fursuit head's face. It was a heavy suit which hurt my neck, and yanking on it certainly didn't help the pain. It was a fun experience i guess.

2022 summer (sunday)
Many would call it a catastrophe. The MondoCon couldn't use the usual place, the Hungexpo to organize the convention so they looked for another place and found the Bok-csarnok. BlackCat went both days, i only did on Sunday. BlackCat let me know that it was hard to get in since the Bok-csarnok was a smaller area than the Hungexpo, and there were an incredible amount of people. I went in alone since BlackCat only went for the afternoon. It was raining and many had to stay outside as the staff didn't allow people inside above a certain number. Many couldn't get in the building to see the stands or to buy anime merch or food. I was one of the lucky ones to get in, but i was alone. I remember sending a group of "free huggers" to hug a crying person, who i became friends with for the rest of the day.

2022 autumn
I was rocking my first ever cosplay, having a blast. Unsure with who tho. I probably met up with BlackCat and Racoon (Racoon claims that was her first MondoCon). I remember getting lost from my group. Might've been with BlackCat again if i think about it. Then there was another cosplayer like me and we did the iconic spider man pointing meme. He also called me short.

2023 winter (Fantasy Expo)
Fantasy Expo is another anime convention held in Budapest, a smaller one. The memory of this one lives in my head very vividly. I went with Racoon since she invited me. I brought Bonk, a fursuit of mine that i just finished. The line to get in was over 2 hours and the building was crowded, as the organizers miscalculated just how many people can fit in there. I've got my first offensive "Ew furry" from some random guy and drank an incredible amount of bubble tea. I also got scammed by a 5 year old. I was mainly alone.

2023 spring (both days)
First day: I was in cosplay. I brought my sister and went with Duck, who i just finished a Hollow Knight cosplay head for. I met new friends, a Xiao cosplayer and their partner. I had a blast, drank bubble tea, i just wish i didn't leave the people i came with all the time for random newbies.
Second day: Let me tell you, it was a hot fucking day. Duck was cosplaying, i also had a fursuit with me, really delightful in the weekend during my graduation weeks. I think the suit was Bonk. I remember standing in the beaming hot sun as Duck got stopped for many many photos, while i had none. I went inside the building instead to get lost. I also remember having a really bad dissociative episode on my way home, almost giving me a panic attack. All i know is that Duck had an absolute blast and got a new friend.

2023 summer
So i planned to meet the Xiao cosplayer and their partner again on the con while cosplaying. And so i did. I had fun, had bubble tea as always and that 13 year old Xiao cosplayer made me try cigarettes the first time in my life. It burnt and i hated it. But now i can say i'm one of those rebellious teens who smoke before turning 18. I also remember hugging a joker cosplayer (who was high on weed most likely, making me uncomfortable,) and i also hugged a bunch of furries. There were 20+ furries in suits, some in full suits in the heat of the summer, making me amazed how they didn't pass out. It was a pretty good con.

2023 autumn (saturday)
Me and the Xiao cosplayer talked again to go together after they convinced me to buy a ticket. They told me just a few days before the convention that they're sorry couldn't go. I was like "Okay, no worries, i'll go alone then i guess." And then they appeared in the convention gates, saying that they're coming btw, just with someone else. I stood there like: 🧍 "Bro you convinced me to spend like 20bucks on meeting you and now you're hanging out with someone else?" So i went in alone. I'm glad i had Bonk, my fursuit head on because i cried the whole day. I also met with furries the (i think) first time on the con, and also a photographer. I found him so friendly it became creepy for me, so i'll not talk about it. I have also recieved a lemon from Racoon's group of One Piece/Bungo Stray Dogs cosplayers, truly the highlight of my day. I blocked and never talked to the Xiao cosplayer again.

2024 summer (saturday)
I just love to suit in the scorching hot summer. It was around 35° celsius. I was lucky i bought a small fan i could hang in my neck to cool me down. I went alone again, this time not planning to go with anyone. I found the furries, listened to their conversations, found out about furry cons in Hungary the first time and such. There was a small stage where i sat down to rest my legs, then went to buy an overpriced bubble tea which was fucking awful btw never buying from there again lol. Then i went back to the stage and a cosplayer was explaining things about sewing and material knowledge, which i really enjoyed. Truly the highlight of my day, i really love a good and educational class lesson where i'm able to learn useful things. After that i went back to the furries and tried the japanese game of Go for the first time in my life, really loved it. I met up with Racoon, then went home. I lost a pair of my hand paws, unsure how, but thanks to Racoon i managed to get them back.

2024 autumn (Fantasy Expo, Sunday)
I went alone by choice. I planned to take Bonk, rocking a sj, but the weather was cold and foggy, and my mood wasn't there either. I got in, sat down at the small stage and watched a good presentation on the steampunk style. Then i waitied for Krizz to bring me some 3D printed goodies. I bought a VHS casette keychain and a blindbag of snacks. Then i went home, having no friends to hang out with and no money to spend.
